Why I Blog

I started blogging because of two categories of people. First, for those who are tired, angry and frustrated with religion. This is what Jesus is saying to you in the message translation of Matthew 11: 28-30 Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. Second, for those who have been rejected and ostracized from the church because the church people think they are too unworthy to be accepted by God. For you too, Jesus loves to hang out with you so He could help you. Check this out, Luke 15: 1-2 ”  By this time a lot of men and women of doubtful reputation were hanging around Jesus, listening intently. The Pharisees and religion scholars were not pleased, not at all pleased.

If you happen to be one of those who think they are good enough or they can make it on their own by praying harder, trying harder and hugging the cactus to please God, you are probably on the wrong blog. But you are also welcome. To reiterate, this online community is designed to help those who cannot help themselves apart from Jesus Christ and His grace alone.

I was the guy that any morally sound person will write off many years ago because of my moral bankruptcy.

But I was told to straighten up after I became born again and “carry my cross”. It was like “now that you are saved by grace, you need to figure out how to live holy by keeping these sets of rules to be holy or you go to hell, we need to go look for other sinners who need grace”. That’s a bit of exaggeration because nobody actually verbally told me that but most of the messages believers hear today can be summarized as “God will have mercy on you as a sinner because of His grace but if you sin as a Christian, hell is waiting for you”. How absurd? I swallowed the lie that since grace has found me, I needed to perfect by self-effort what grace started. I embarked on a journey of DIY (Do It Yourself) dead religion that took me nowhere except endless frustrations, bitterness, anger, resentment and run-off-the mill adolescent rebellion. It was like somebody running on a treadmill and going nowhere. I was giddy and emasculated which brought up many questions in my soul. Questions like: is it really true that the kind of holiness that is required to make heaven must be spotless without any iota of blemish? Questions like, what is sin? What is true holiness and how do we know when we attain it since the best “holiness preachers” among us claim they too are also just trying their best?

After a long struggle with “spotless holiness” I gave up. (Not that I was living in sin, at least not the big ones like physical adultery, physical murder e.t.c.)

I gave up and cried to God “I can’t do this again, I am tired”. Now, that will be considered a “backsliding” statement under legalism, but it was the inflection point for me and the climax of my epiphany for the message of grace. “I have waited for this day to come so that I can help you”, God said to me. This encounter led to series of private time with the Holy Spirit who started revealing to me Jesus and His finished work. That was about five years ago. Today, I can honestly tell you that I now have a great life in Jesus. I am happier, more joyful; I am a better husband to my wife, a better father to my children and a more understanding pastor all by God’s grace. You may not totally agree with my theology and presentation because you probably have yours but I cannot deny my glorious experiences.

This blog is going to explore the vast space of God’s eternal, irrevocable love for humanity, the true definition of God’s own kind of holiness, the meaning and nature of sin, repentance, conviction, confession, eternal security, family, finance, purpose, the place of miracles and the supernatural under the new covenant and other hot topics.

Because this blog is about you and God’s grace for you, one thing is guaranteed. Jesus Christ and His finished work alone and how we respond to that understanding will be the only highlight. By the special grace of God, the physical results will be effortless holiness, financial miracles, healthy lives, blessed marriages, struggle free, purposeful living and a peaceful, guilt free relationship with our heavenly Father.

I can boldly join apostle John in his testimony of his encounter with Jesus when he says “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—“ (1 John 1:1)

Peter also corroborates this point “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). He seems to be saying ‘Look, I may not have the best vocabulary in my language repertoire to describe my experience; I may not have the best of educational background. I may not have a flamboyant pedigree but I know something for sure. I have encountered Jesus and His grace and my life has practically and radically changed and I cannot stop talking about it.’ That would be your experience too by God’s grace in Jesus name.

Welcome to grace for life.

  1. Fantastic. The world needs a proper understanding of the grace of God. So many will be stress free, focused and truly joyful if they have a genuine encounter with GRACE who is Jesus Himself.
